Emilio J. Palacios-García - PhD

I am a Research Fellow at the Sustainability Institute of University College Cork (UCC) and MaREI the Research Ireland Centre for Energy, Climate, and Marine Research and Innovation.

Previously, I was a Research Associate and Marie Skłodowska-Curie SoE fellow within the ELECTA research group at KU Leuven and the research centre EnergyVille, Belgium (2020-2024), and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Research on Microgrids at Aalborg University, Denmark (2018-2020).

I hold a PhD degree in Advanced Computation and Energy (2018), an MSc degree in Distributed Renewable Energy (2013), and a BSc degree in Industrial Electronic Engineering (2012) from the University of Córdoba, Spain.

My research areas include data-driven modelling and forecasting of energy flexibility, advanced metering infrastructures for user-centric demand response, privacy-friendly data processing, IoT architectures and protocols for energy services, and stochastic modelling of residential energy demand.

I have co-authored 58 publications in peer-reviewed international journals, conferences, and books (see Google Scholar). I am also a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
